Hi!  My name is Curt Whitesell and I get asked a lot about my company whether it be about my company name or why in general I started WKRP indy Real Estate Professionals in a congested industry.  Its is always fun to answer these questions and talk to people about my story and why I was and am passionate about having an independent real estate brokerage.  Its not easy, just like any other sales job to exist solo or independent from a large group but I find it a great challenge every single day.

So the reason I started my company WKRP indy Real Estate Professionals was that I had recently lost a dream job in real estate but wanted to continue on in the industry so I signed on with a Century 21 office.  After 9 months and sharing a ridiculous amount of my commissions with the office and having zero business development help I thought to myself that there is a better way to do this for myself and that is when I started my real estate company, without hesitation.  My goal was to to create a full service brokerage that specialized in small markets and small business making me lean and nimble which is a better way to adapt to a customers needs.  So here is how we broke it down.

Residential – We wanted to be an efficient and tech forward group of realtors that understood that the clients are in need of other services then generations before.  We adopted a social media presence that was new to the industry and to this day have more exposure then most agents in the market.  We chose Hamilton County and Westfield as our niche market not only to avoid long commutes but to be experts in the market and have the ability to advise our customers a little bit better then the other agents.  We also chose to be flexible from a fee standpoint.  Sellers are smart and have a lot of options and our egos could have quickly kept us from being competitive but we decided early on that we were going to be one of the few companies that listened to the customer and brought the right value of services and costs to a transaction.  Its worked.  We enjoy a fantastic market share in these communities and absolutely love helping buyers and sellers move around.

Commercial – This was the more difficult but the most rewarding from a competitive standpoint.  Commercial real estate is a hard industry to crack and we knew that going in and took it as the ultimate challenge.  We understood that when a business is moving it can be a make or break decision and being an expert advisor was critical to these clients.  We also understood that there was a weakness to the traditional commercial real estate marketing locally and it seemed to need some fresh ideas.  Why could a commercial broker not specialize on a market or in our case a single state road in a  single growing city?  We could and early on thats what we did very well.  Since then we have expanded to all of Indianapolis and north to help business owners and property owners make really good decisions with their real estate.  We wanted to be honest and a resource to those exploring new locations or investment properties.  We also wanted to be a forward thinking marketing company for our property owners and new developments.  We have also done that in turn have had some great success in the commercial real estate space.  To this day I spend a large amount of my time studying the local markets and industry trends more then any other part of my business but it gives me an edge over many of the general brokers in the area.

So today almost 10 years into my business here is what we do at WKRP indy Real Estate Professionals.  We are a full service real estate company that is more focused on customer service and education then anything else.  We help people all over indy buy and sell homes to live in or as investment property.  We help businesses find the perfect next office, retail or industrial location.  We also help property owners and developers by providing the best online and direct marketing for their commercial properties in Indy and Hamilton County and we do it with as much character and integrity as possible, while looking for great ways to provide customer service.  We would love to hear about your real estate or your next big move ad be a great resource for you and your friends as you make some really big decisions.  Thanks for reading
