Tips for First-time Home Buyers

Thinking of buying your first home? Here are a few basics to get the ball rolling.

1. Find a Realtor you like and can trust. Using a Realtor as a buyer doesn’t cost you a penny, and a good agent can
help you negotiate the best deal on the home of your dreams.  WKRP agents are committed to helping you through every step of the process.

2. Talk to a lender. They’ll be able to tell you if you qualify for a mortgage and how much you’ll be able to finance.
Even if you don’t qualify, most lenders offer free credit counseling to help you get there.  Asking multiple lenders for quotes won’t hurt your credit, so shop around for the best rate.

3. Get your finances in order. While there are mortgage options that offer no or little money down, the more you can pay upfront, the lower your monthly payment will be. Also, avoid making any major purchases or moving large sums of money around before you apply as these activities can raise red flags.

Buying a home is one of the biggest purchases you’ll ever make. The most important thing is to make sure you have knowledgeable professionals on your side to guide you and answer questions.  Call Chris at WKRP to get started!
